The Keep at Castlegate - Luxury detached retreat in Cragg vale

Clean, friendly and had everything we needed. Definitely recommend

Cons: getting around the property could be challenging if not mobile

Unique property in a great location for exploring Calderdale.

Pros: Lovely quirky property, in a great location for walking and exploring the area. A contemporary and well finished property unusual and unique in many ways, ideal for a short stay. Kelly was very helpful in providing information beforehand and during our stay.

Cons: With 4 adults it is a very compact property which can take a little getting used to, especially the steep stairs. We would have preferred to have had more natural ventilation in the rooms as there were only two small windows that opened (apart from the doors). Worktop space is a little compromised, meaning the microwave and toaster are hidden away and difficult to access. Also we couldn't find a dryer as listed. However, everthing else is there and just what you need for a short stay.

Pros: The location and the views overlooking the woods are stunning. The house is beautifully built to let nature in so it feels like living in a luxurious tree house 😊

Cons: We loved the architecture but it wouldn’t be suitable for older people with mobility issues—the stairs are narrow and it’d be difficult to get into the Japanese bath

Pros: Stunning views and a perfect location to go for some wholesome dog walks with the family whilst exploring the area.

WOW... JUST WOW...

Pros: The view from those big windows are just stunning. The waterfall you can hear is so therapeutic, and if your lucky like us and get up early you can see deers out in the field. Our dog although absolutely shattered has really enjoyed the walks. If you love nature this is one to definitely book. Kelly was really good at communicating with us and even left us a little treat for our stay. I'm sure if I look for little faults I'd find them just like any property but the accommodation is stunning and was very clean and well kitted out with things you would need for a short break. Definitely going to return again.

Cons: Our only thing we didn't like but was just bad luck was on our 2nd day the council decided to resurface parts of the road right outside the property and was here from about 8am until 4.30pm and they was really noisy, blocked the front door and blocked our car in so it did spoil day 2 slightly, but this was just a case of bad luck and not Kelly's fault and I'm sure they probly don't resurface the roads very often so cannot see it affecting anyone else. But other than that cannot find any fault with our stay at all.

Had a great couple of days, would have liked a few more

Pros: Great location with an amazing view from the living room, would like to stay during the summer to truly enjoy and appreciate it. Loved the Robin Hood pub up the road, within walking distance which is great when being the designated driver. If we have stayed for longer I would definitely have tried some of the produce from Craggies farm shop, great breakfast and some nice beer from the neighbouring Vocation brewery.

Cons: Not a problem really, but if you are not a confident driver make sure you plan your routes as some of the local roads are interesting....

Like the tardis...looks small from the outside but surprising on the inside.

Pros: We chose to stay here because we were visiting Eureka with the children (7 and 2) but was then surpsied at how lovely the property was. Amazing views, which amazed my children! We loved the little woodland walk outside but be prepared for a steep slippery walk if your children are adventurous like mine. The property had everything we needed for a 2 night break. Although, we did take our own stair gate to put on the kids bedroom door, which I was glad of as it gave me peace of mine during the night as the stairs are quite steep. Kelly the host was so good at communicating and even left a lovely basket of goodies, which didn't last long with my 2. Would definitely recommend for a short peaceful get away.
