Perfect base to explore the Yorkshire Dales
Pros: Dugdale's Cottage exceeded our expectations. It acted as a perfect base for a short stay in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and cosy... It was a lovely touch to find a bottle of wine, chocolates and a pint of milk on our arrival. Only a short walk to the town centre where there was plenty independent shops, pubs and restaurants and some lovely walks in the area. We took advantage of having the Yorkshire Three Peaks on our doorstep and climbed Pen-y-Ghent during our stay. The hosts, Andrew and Amanda were very approachable and nothing was any trouble. Settle has become one of our favourite places to use as a base in recent years when exploring the Yorkshire Dales therefore we will certainly consider Dugdales in the future. 5*****
Cons: Parking raised a slight issue as it appeared to be a popular little spot to park up to 'nip to the shops' but we weren't there to be sat in the cottage all day. The public car park next door offered free over night parking from 18:00 - 09:00 the next day.

Pros: A small, perfectly formed cottage, lovely decor, very comfy bed too. The kitchen had everything I needed. In a perfect location too, 2 minutes to the market place. I am a solo traveller, I felt safe and secure. The bathroom is a nice size, the shower was powerful and a good size too. Very quiet area, never disturbed my noise with my bedroom window open all night. Overall a very nice comfortable, clean cottage.
Cons: Maybe somewhere to put your shower gel and shampoo in the shower.

Pros: Location. It is only metres from the town centre but in a quiet location. Nearness of free parking right next to cottage. All facilities you need for a break New rail on stairs is really helpful given the steepness of the stairs. This was our second stay and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit.
Cons: Tiny things to improve any stay would be : 1 Non slip mat in lovely shower to avoid slipping. Also soap/shampoo holder in shower 2. Improved air extraction from kitchen as managed twice to set off alarm despite windows being open and extractor fan on when using frying pan or may be it was a reflection of my cooking skills though the items weren't burnt.

A wonderful, well-appointed cottage to base yourself in the Heart of the Dales.
Pros: This is a wonderfully charming small apartment right in the middle of Settle. It was an excellent location for my holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is well appointed and has a modern kitchen and bathroom. It would be highly suitable for a couple seeking a cosy retreat to get away or a single traveller.
Cons: There was little not to like about this cottage. A few small things would further enhance the experience. Consider putting a soap holder in the shower recess. A light duvet of blanket being available as I found the duvet to be a bit to warm. Finaly, consider full block out curtains in the bedroom to keep it quite dark to aid sleeping.

Pros: Very close to centre of town and facilities. Hosts very kindly provided basics and also a very nice bottle of wine and some biscuits, much appreciated.
Cons: Although property advertised for 2 the assumption is made that the 2 people using the cottage would be accommodated in the double bed, as we are friends and not partners I had wrongly thought that the sofa would be suitable as a bed. However, the sofa was not a sofa bed, so one of us slept on the cushions. Also, the shower tray was extremely slippery and no slip mat was provide and there were no grab rails in the shower area either.
