We had a great and relaxing stay at The Retreat

Pros: It was a lovely place to stay homely and comfortable. It was in a great location with 2 pubs nearby in the village of Stillington and was well situated for travelling to nearby York and Thirsk.

Lovely cottage

Pros: Lovely quite and comfortable cottage,log burner is a huge bonus on these cold nights.very clean this was our 2nd stay and will definitely be back

Glorious little cottage

Pros: The property is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a self-catering stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots/pans, utensils, bowls etc. that you need. Everything worked, the lounge was spacious and comfortable, and the owners had left a half-dozen eggs and a pint of milk in the fridge for our arrival, along with a pack of biscuits, which was much appreciated. Everything was very clean, and there was plenty of storage space in the bedroom for clothes. There is a small Co-op and a small Morrisons about 5 minutes drive away in Easingwold.

Cons: You’re quite close to the main road. It didn’t disturb our sleep, but you could clearly hear any traffic coming past. You will also need to drive if you want to eat out anywhere.

Best cottage we have used and excellent host

Pros: The property was excellent , clean and very comfortable. We have stayed in quite a few cottages and this is the best yet .Chris had left eggs ( from his chickens) biscuits , milk and tea/ coffee for our arrival . And very nice they all were. Chris was extremely helpful and friendly without bothering us at all . Will definitely stay again

Cons: Not very much would improve or stay . In the country side but 2 minutes from everything you would need . Shops pubs ets

Chris is a very good host

Pros: Size of the rooms and good design. Well furnished. Well thought out. The best from over a dozen stayed in over the last 3 months.

Cons: More power on the shower would be ideal, Bbt as a shower cubicle it was great and had piping hot water always available.

Peaceful and perfect!

Pros: The location was perfectly situated for where we wanted to be each day - it was quiet and peaceful and in a beautiful location

Pros: I loved the location, very quiet, homely, spacious, neat. Exactly what we were expecting. We loved our stay here as we were doing touristy stuff in York. Only 20 mins scenic drive. Also, we found some treats at the house 😋

Cons: Nothing.. loved it all. Wait a second, almost struggled to find the location but nailed it on the second attempt. It's not a negative. To be fair, the directions were clear in the app. Really, some people are great with maps. Me? Not.
