A nice visit which suited our needs perfectly.
Pros: From the moment we arrived we felt like special guests. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Very large room with nice touches like bottled water either side of the bed. The bed itself was massive, super king size I guess and was extremely comfortable. We had a drink in the bar and ate in the restaurant. Good service and good food at reasonable prices. We have stayed at The Boars Head before and would not hesitate to stay again. We travel to Ripley once a year as a good friend of ours plays a gig at Ripley Live, a small music venue in the old town hall just across the road from the hotel which is really handy. You also get free admission to Ripley Castle and Grounds which is literally next door to the hotel and is well worth a walk round if you have the time.
Cons: Parking can sometimes be a problem as non residents use the hotel rear car park to visit the adjacent ice cream parlour although we were told that this is being addressed.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff who have worked for the Boars Head for several years, its nice to have the consistency. The rooms are pin clean and a cafetiere with fresh filter coffee caffeinated and decaf is on the tea tray. The beds are super comfortable ( we've stayed in most of the rooms over the years). The restaurant food is of high quality, hot, plentiful and beautfully presented. The lounge is comfortable and inviting for a pre or post dinner drink. There is a selection of board games which we played after dinner

Loved it!
Pros: Location, we went from the hotel for a lovely walked before it got dark right out into the countryside. Loved the room location, I’ve never staid in a coachman’s lodge upstairs so very quaint and unique to me. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.
Cons: I wish I had realised there was a pub too,we ate in the restaurant because told it would be busy so we booked for ease.I should have looked at the pub menu to save a little on our evening meal. My mistake though. There was also a really loud drip thundering just outside our window. Luckily the rained stopped otherwise I would have asked to be moved in the middle of the night. The receptionist thanked me for pointing it out. Hope it’s fixed now.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Good value and nice room for B&B
Cons: The evening meal in the bar was disappointing. I had a very indifferent soup and altho my beef pie itself was ok I thought it was very expensive for what I got with accompanying gravy, chips and red cabbage again pretty poor. I wouldn’t eat there again.
