Pros: Charming old pub with very comfortable room. The owners were delightful and very helpful in working out how we could store our luggage before catching a train the next day.

Pros: Great location, lovely spacious room, and convenient parking with easy access to car park spaces. Everything we needed was included – extra toilet rolls, coffee, tea, and other thoughtful touches. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would definitely return.

Cons: N/A

Pros: Great location for the price, very short walk to the boundary walls. Great hosts who were very pleasant. Warms up very nicely. Easy access into the accommodation out of hours.

Cons: Not the most comfortable bed but that’s dependent on preferences. Macerator in the toilet can be noisy but that’s understood considering the age of the building.

Pros: Great location and very close to the train station. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly from the moment you arrive to when you leave. The chef cooks delicious home cooked food which we will definitely go back for, we need to try his Sunday lunch. The building itself is very historical and the rooms are clean, comfortable and very spacious. We would 100% stay here again. Thanks again to the owner and all the staff. 😊

Lovely friendly old pub

Pros: On arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were made to feel welcome by all, even the pub's locals. The location is perfect for the station and the city centre. We stayed 2 nights and spent the first enjoying the friendly local pub vibe in the Bay Horse. We ordered a meal and when it arrived we were gobsmacked by the size of it, even the locals found it amusing how large the portions were. I have a large appetite, and I could only eat about a third of it.

Cons: The only issue we found was with the windows in the room. As it's a listed building they have single glazing and as a result the road noise is loud in the morning. We also had a drunk on the street shouting for 15 mins at 2am which woke us both.

Great room in the centre of York

Pros: Great room above the pub. It was really quiet when we stayed since it was between Christmas and New Year. We were welcomed so warmly and had all the help we needed. The location is great, you can easily walk into the city centre - we enjoyed walking around along the city walls! The bed was comfortable.

Cons: We unfortunately didn't get to taste the food, since the place was mostly closed between Christmas and New Year - but there were plenty of restaurants around us that we really enjoyed!

Very enjoyable

Pros: The room was spacious.. tastefully decorated.. comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom.with tea and coffee facilities. Spotlessly clean and full of period charm. The pub itself is also full of character, with a good selection of beers and very friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely place for a pre Christmas break, and it's a great location. Will return.

Pros: Lovely warm welcome despite pub kitchen having to close for a while due to flu outbreak amongst staff. Well done for keeping things running. Hope all have recovered now.

Sweet old inn, close to town. Ideal for those under 6ft4.

Pros: Very comfy room , close to town and sweet room in a character building.so big huge wooden beams and cosy height ceilings.

Cons: Room was on the front. A few loud lorry noises at night. But to be expected. Just not used to sleeping so close to a road. Windows obviously single glaze due to the age of the building. Not a negative at all. But if not used to noise at night it could be an issue if staying longer than a night.
